CHILD & NATURE ALLIANCE OF CANADA

Branding / Communications Strategy / Design

The Child and Nature Alliance of Canada fosters meaningful connections with the outdoors for children and youth.

I led the creative direction and execution of their Forest School Canada program, as well as the design of their multi-million dollar capital project proposal, and Outdoor Play Summit social collateral.

NATIONAL ARTS CENTRE | Northern Scene

Campaign design

Acclaimed media artist Charles Stankievech created an immersive 35mm film installation shot at the northernmost settlement on earth. In collaboration with the Ottawa Art Gallery, SAW Video and the City of Ottawa, I was asked to develop a full range of marketing materials for this large-scale installation, as part of the National Art Centre's Northern Scene festival.

SAW VIDEO Media Arts Centre - Centre d'art mediatique

Strategy / Brand redux / Campaign design / Photography

I've been working with Ottawa's home for the media arts since 2011. In three years, I've steadily evolved this vital organization's brand, and introduced them to a wider local audience. I overhauled their marketing products, gave their events a consistent and conscientiously designed aesthetic, and strategized on successful fundraising initiatives.

THE ACORN / GLORY HOPE MOUNTAIN

ALBUM DESIGN / MARKETING COLLATERAL

GHM is a biographical concept album exploring the surreal childhood and eventual Canadian emigration of my Honduran-born mother, Gloria Esperanza MontoyaIt was nominated for the Polaris Music Prize in 2008.  Naturally, I put a lot of heart and soul into this package design. I got a lot of help and source imagery from Ottawa-based artist Amy Thompson, and Vancouver's Howie Tsui.

Soupçon Restaurant

Branding

Having cemented an air-tight reputation in Ottawa, Chef Tanya Skeates asked me to develop the branding for her first restaurant, Soupçon. The restaurant, located in nearby Wakefield, Quebec, would be the culmination of her love for Asian flavours and tasteful fusion. She was looking for a playful mark reflecting her joviality and mastery of exotic broths. French for “epiphany,” Soupçon was a wry little play on words, and a joy to work with.

TRUST THE UNKNOWN: A tribute to Ed Folger

Campaign & collateral design

Ed Folger was a legend in Canadian independent cinema, a mentor to many, and way deep into Second Life. I knew Ed, and was lucky enough to feature his media art work at Arboretum Festival 2013.  For this tribute screening in 2014 at SAW Video, I was honoured to design a campaign that captured the sensitivity and complexity of Ed's remarkable life.

JUMPSTART

Wordmark

For over a decade, Ottawa's SAW Video media art centre has encouraged the development of new media artists with it's JumpStart mentorship program. I was asked to develop a new look and feel for the program, which pairs new artists with community mentors, provides them with production subsidies, and culminates in a screening of their work.
